    You are buying on ONE (1) only of a Square Magnesium Partially Stabilized Metallurgical grade Zirconia ceramic foam filter. They are designed for filtering grey, malleable and all high or low alloyed cast irons and steel alloys. The maximum application temperature for these filters is 2000°C (3632 °F).
    However they are also used for soldering and welding plates because their thermal conductivity is very low and heat will not be rapidly taken from the parts being soldered or welded.
    Zirconia filters are designed for use in casting super alloy turbine blades, and prosthetic hip components. During the pouring of the heat the application, the continuous tortuous interconnected pore network of this filter prevents the ingress of slag, magnesium reaction products, and sand grains into the funnel of the lost wax mold cavity.
    The inherently large surface area is well suited to intensive filtration and even finely distributed slag particles are retained both on the filter surface and in the filter structure. The high filtration effectiveness combined with a reduction in turbulence often allows gating systems to be greatly simplified.
    Often called Ceramic Stainless Steel because so many of its properties are like that of a Stainless Steel 316, this material has very high mechanical strength when fired to near full density, very good flexural strength, very good corrosion resistance to chemicals at high temperature, and very high refractoriness or use temperature. They may be used for a variety of electrical, mechanical, and thermal applications. They may be used for high temperature furnace as stand offs or setters for firing parts in a kiln; and may also be used for jewelry or for applications where soldering requires a low thermal conductivity platform.
    When heated to 350-600 °C, this material will couple with microwaves and therefore may also be used as “Wireless Heating Elements” in the microwave for sintering other components. Using fibrous thermal insulation this material will absorb the microwave energy and convert it to infrared radiation, i.e. red heat.
